What is the Fraxel re:store DUAL™?

The Fraxel re:store DUAL™ is a combination of an improved Fraxel re:store 1550nm laser that treats sun damage, wrinkles and other signs of aging, with the NEW 1927nm Thulium laser for better clearance of pigment irregularities or dyschromias on the entire body. The NEW Fraxel re:store DUAL™ is the only laser with this NEW groundbreaking wavelength. The improvements in the 1550nm laser are Faster treatment times and More Comfort. The addition of the 1927nm wavelength in the Fraxel re:store DUAL™, lets Dr. Papalian treat larger surface areas with more rapid removal of irregular pigment, without the downtime associated with superficial ablative CO2 lasers. When used simultaneously with the 1550nm laser, the NEW 1927nm wavelength allows for more effective – superficial and deep resurfacing – leading to fewer treatments and better results.
For pigment irregularities, should I do IPL or Fraxel re:store DUAL™? One of the limitations of IPL is the natural pigmentation in the skin. If there are large variations between the area of pigment to be removed and the natural skin color, IPL can be effective after many treatments. However, if pigmentation is light, or very close to the natural skin color, IPL has trouble safely removing the pigment. With the Fraxel re:store DUAL™ and its 1927nm wavelength laser, it does not matter what skin color you are or what color the pigment is. The Fraxel re:store DUAL™ works by effectively targeting the superficial layer of skin where the abnormal pigment is, and renews and resurfaces it. An IPL can take up to 4 treatments, or more, to remove the pigment and with the Fraxel re:store DUAL™ and the NEW 1927nm wavelength, pigmentation clearance is accelerated. With the Fraxel re:store DUAL™, you can safely treat all your areas of concern, both wrinkles and pigment irregularities.
Can the Fraxel re:store DUAL™ treatment be individualize to my schedule?
The great advance of fractional laser treatment, and uniquely with the Fraxel re:store DUAL™, non-ablative skin treatments can be individualized to your healing schedule. The Fraxel re:store DUAL™treatment, is adjustable to meet your needs and particular skin type and condition. In particular, the Fraxel re:store DUAL™ allows for gentler settings with minimal healing time and better pigment smoothing than older technologies. More aggressive settings can be used to reduce the number of treatments required to achieve younger looking skin, but will have a longer recovery. With the Fraxel re:store DUAL™you are in control of your skin!
What can I expect after the procedure?
Depending on your selection of the aggressiveness of your Fraxel re:store DUAL™ treatment, you will typically have pinkness and mild swelling for 2-4 days. There is no wound care or dressings required. You may use make-up if you would like. For several days your skin will feel dry. Moisturizer and sunscreen use are critical to proper healing. The office will discuss options with you. After a few days your skin will bronze and feel rough as the abnormal pigment comes to the surface before it is removed. The skin is about to peel at this time, and the peeling will take about 3 days to complete. Your skin will then look very refreshed and pink and will return to its more youthful natural color in about 5-7 days.
